In Loving Memory of Cici
There are some little lives that leave a big mark, and Cici, yours was one of them.
From the moment you came into our lives, you brought a kind of joy that didn’t need explaining. It was in the way you greeted us, the way you settled into the quiet corners of our days, and the way you made ordinary moments feel a little softer, a little brighter, just by being there. You had a way of turning a house into a home simply by curling up in it.
You taught us patience without ever meaning to. You taught us to slow down, to notice small things, to find delight in routines we might otherwise have rushed through. Every look, every gesture, every tiny habit of yours became something we loved without even realizing how much until now.
And then you showed us just how strong you truly were. For months, you fought cancer with a courage that left us in awe. Through every hard day, every treatment, every difficult moment, you kept showing up with the same trust and gentle spirit you always had. You never stopped being you — never stopped greeting us, never stopped seeking comfort and giving love, even when your body was fighting so hard. You were a fighter in every sense of the word, and watching that strength taught us more about resilience than words ever could.
You loved simply and fully, the way only they can — without conditions, without complications, without needing anything more than presence and care in return. You gave us your trust, your affection, and your companionship, and we tried, in every way we knew how, to give you a life filled with love and to fight alongside you until the very end.
The house feels quieter now. There’s a stillness where your presence used to be, a gap that nothing quite fills. We find ourselves looking for you out of habit, expecting to see you in the places you used to be. Grief, we’re learning, is just love that has nowhere left to go — and there is so much of it here for you.
But alongside the sadness, there is so much gratitude. Grateful for the time we had, however short it may have felt. Grateful for the comfort you gave on hard days and the joy you added to good ones. Grateful for every extra day your fight gave us together. Grateful that, for a while, you were ours, and we were yours.
Cici, you were more than a pet. You were family. You were a warrior, a source of light, a quiet friend who carried a very large amount of love and an even larger amount of courage.
Wherever you are now, we hope it’s soft, warm, and full of ease, free from pain and fighting at last. We hope you know how deeply you were loved and how deeply you will always be missed.
Until we meet again, sweet Cici. Run free, rest well, and know that a piece of our hearts will always belong to you.
With all our love, always. 🐾
